The annual Open Minds Walk & Run is a major fundraiser for the Schizophrenia Society of Alberta. The money raised will be used to enable us to provide much needed programs and services in the communities where the money was raised.
Setting goals will help you reach your prize goal and raise much needed funds for the Schizophrenia Society of Alberta. Below are some important details and tips you can use to reach your fundraising goals.
Be sure to get your sponsors to complete the contact information completely so they receive thier tax receipts.
Tax-deductible receipt will only be issued for donations that are $20 or more.
Go purple and get attention while you collect pledges! It will create awareness for the event. Please contact your local branch for purple hair dye.
Send emails to family, friends and neighbours briefly describing your goals and objectives and why you want to be a part of the walk/run.
Invite them to your personal page to read your story and submit an online pledge.
Consider writing a follow-up letter after the walk/run to let people know how it all went.
Always have a sponsor sheet available for people to pledge you on the spot.
Organise a Open Minds awareness event to make people aware of what you are doing and provide information as to how they can support you as you participate.
Cheques are payable to the Schizophrenia Society of Alberta.
All pledges must be handed in by the day of the event in order to receive your prize. Pledges that are handed in after the event will not be counted towards your prize level.
